While the New England readies itself to indulge in lamb and potatoes in Guyra, or enjoy country music’s best at Australia’s largest music festival in Tamworth, Parkes is celebrating 30 years of their annual Elvis festival with a Blue Hawaii theme.
Beginning tomorrow at 6AM, there are hundreds of concerts and activities from markets to dancing lessons staged over the 4 day family friendly event. A record crowd of over 25,000 Elvis fans, collectively called Elvii, are expected to attend.
“Each year our Festival guests show up in droves, decked to the nines in their finest Elvis attire. Blue Hawaii was a wonderfully fun film so we’re expecting our attendees to have a lot of fun with it,” said festival director Tiffany Steel.
“This year’s program is bigger and better than ever. We’ve collected some of the country’s top artists for a series of standout shows and the reigning international Elvis Tribute Artist, Victor Trevino Jr will join Dean Z for the world’s best Feature Concert series.”
US Elvis tribute artist Dean Z hails from Lancaster, California, Dean has dedicated his entire life to honouring the legacy of Elvis Presley. Dean was named the 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist in Memphis during “Elvis Week” and has since become an official host during the annual Elvis Week celebration in Memphis, serving as an ambassador to Graceland and the Elvis Presley estate.
Victor Trevino Jr. is the current International Champion for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Competition awarded by Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) in August 2022. He has been performing for over performing professionally for 10 years.
Ms Steel says the whole Parkes community gets involved in the festival.
“The Festival is a community-driven event that involves a wide cross-section of the community, from Council to local businesses to more than 100 volunteers who give up their time to successfully stage the Festival each year, all of which adds to the amazing atmosphere.
Like the Tamworth Country Music Festival, the Parkes Elvis Festival was postponed last year to April due to COVID-19 restrictions. Both events are now back in their regular January timeslot and expect record crowds this year.
