The Glen Innes office of local youth and families service provider Pathfinders will remain closed for some time due to the recent collapse of their office roof.
Emergency services were called to the old Royal Hotel building that is now the Pathfinders office in the middle of the night on February 6, after reports of an explosion. There was no explosion, but rather the parapet brickwork had collapsed on the office roof, causing the roof to collapse.
Police closed off the building until it could be determined as safe. Unfortunately, there is material in the building that has to be tested for asbestos.
Mark Crompton from Pathfinders says they are not looking for a temporary office until they know the results of the asbestos tests.
“Staff are all working from home at the moment, but can make arrangements to meet people in person as required.”
“The Glen Innes office will be closed for the foreseeable future.”
“We’re not looking for a temporary office as yet, as we don’t know what repairs are required or how long it will be.”
“We will know more when the asbestos testing is complete.”
Mr Crompton said that clients or others seeking Pathfinders in Glen Innes should call or email the normal contacts, and they will be able to reach staff working from home.
