An exciting new motorcycle adventure tour is coming to the New England this month. Called the Backside of the Great Divide, the tour is fully guided and supported and will occur over the weekend of the 17th to 19th of March.
The tour is run by Endeavour Motorcycle Tours. Owners Kye Anderson and Lesley Flanagan started the company in 2022. They saw a gap in the market and wanted to convert their passion for motorcycle touring into something they could share with others.
Each tour they run operates on a grading system, so attendees know whether they are capable enough to undertake the trip.
The Backside of the Great Divide is classified as a “medium core” tour. This means it is recommended for beginners, right through to experienced motorcyclists, and will include a wide range of different on- and off-road terrains for riders to challenge themselves with.
First and foremost, the trip gives riders the opportunity to ride on roads that they either may not have known about or not had the confidence to undertake on their own. It is also, however, a genuine tour, allowing riders to experience the region and take in historic and naturally significant landmarks.
The Backside of the Great divide will kick off from Walcha, with a meet and greet evening and a pub dinner. After a hearty breakfast, riders will then take to the road, retracing the steps of John Oxley and taking in the local scenery, before returning to the Walcha Motel for a well-deserved rest.
Day two kicks off early again and promises to take riders on a blast through local farmland, to enjoy some of the local gorges and waterfalls. The tour finishes at 3 pm on Sunday, back where it all began at the Walcha Motel.
The weekend is marketed as an all-inclusive package, with accommodation, food, support vehicles and rider training provided for the duration of the tour. The fully all-inclusive package costs $695, however, there is also a basic package available for $395.
All they need attendees to bring is an “adventurous attitude”, a fully registered adventure-style bike with a minimum fuel range of 200kms, ambulance cover, a current license, and riding gear suitable for the cooler climates that are covered in the tour. The tour guides only allow 20 attendees per tour but there are still some places available.
