The Deepwater Art Show is back after nine years, being held from the 31st of March to the 4th of April, with music, art, and creativity once again raising funds for important charities.
First held in 2006, the Deepwater Art Show began as a small event to raise money for the local Red Cross and has since become a multi-day exhibition. Now a prominent event in the New England Region, the Deepwater Art Show showcases local and regional artists while continuing to raise money for charity.
This year the show is fundraising for the Deepwater Red Cross, the Deepwater Royal Far West, and the Deepwater P&C as well as other small community groups.
Organiser Catie Macansh has described it as a celebration.
“The Deepwater Art Show is so important for our community because it’s a celebration of our community, and our resilience.”
“It’s bringing the whole community together to celebrate our strength and our creativity.”
“It’s a celebration for the community, and a celebration of art, music, and culture,” Catie said.
“It’s a great way to showcase who we are, and how we survive. It’s going to be fantastic.”
The Deepwater Art Show opens on the 31st of March and the opening night will feature live music from opera singer Laura King, and Assyrian dance-rock worldbeat band Azadoota. There will be an artisan high tea on the Saturday and Sunday as well as a variety of maker workshops over the four days, which tickets are available for.
Tickets to the opening night are $80 plus a booking fee, but part of that goes to charity through their booking provider, Humanitix. Tickets for the workshops and high tea vary in price. There are also options to buy tickets in person at the Deepwater post office and the Makers’ Shed in Glen Innes. The cost for the opening night also includes a complimentary dinner.
The show will run from the 31st of March until the 4th of April at the Deepwater School of Arts. They are also accepting artist entries until the 20th of March.
