Friends of McMaugh Gardens had an extra boost to their annual charity bowls day this week, with an announcement they have received a $100,000 grant from the State Government to help with a refurbishment of rooms in the aged care facility.

Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall announced the funding during the week at the start of the Friends of McMaugh Gardens annual charity bowls day at the Uralla Bowling Club – a special Hawaiian theme this year. The grant will go towards new the purchase and installation of new bi-fold doors ion the common area, day and night blinds in various rooms, new hospital beds and improvements to accessibility of parts of the facility.

“McMaugh Gardens is a treasured and much-loved facility in Uralla and these funds are exactly what’s needed to modernise residents’ room and make common spaces more comfortable,” Mr Marshall said.

“It is a critical part of the fabric of Uralla, allowing locals to remain in their community when they are no longer able to care for themselves at home.”

“As with any large residential building complex, there is no shortage of improvements that need to be made and maintenance required.”

Uralla Shire Mayor Robert Bell said the community welcomed the funding boost.

“We are very thankful as a community for this support to improve one of our most cherished community facilities,” Cr Bell said.
