The Guyra Poultry Club has been recently established this year and is welcoming all poultry enthusiasts in the area under its wing.
With monthly meetings already being held, the invitation is open to young and old to come along and meet new people and chat about all things poultry. Whether you’re a backyard chicken keeper or prefer to take things more seriously at a show level, there’s something for everyone.
The club describes itself as being “a community of like-minded poultry enthusiasts”. The aim is to be social, whilst also providing a great information hub for anyone wanting to either keep or exhibit their chickens.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Saturday the 23rd of April at 2 pm in the Poultry Shed at the Guyra Showgrounds.
The Poultry Shed is destined to be the home of the club and this meeting will also offer members the opportunity to have some input on the redesign of the shed. The April meeting will also involve organising a working bee and planning the poultry club’s first-ever event.
The vision for the future of the club involves educational events, buy and sell days and poultry exhibitions.
All the local show days, Guyra included, often have hotly contented chicken exhibitions so this is an excellent opportunity to pool knowledge and make sure your chickens have their best clawed-foot forward for the next competitive event.
Whilst the club has been up and running for a couple of months now, there are still plenty of ways to get involved, and still some committee positions open. To learn more about the club and their upcoming events, you can join the Guyra Poultry Club’s Facebook Group.
