If you love country music and the Tamworth country music festival left you wanting more, head to Bingara on the 27th of April for 4 days of free country music at the 2023 Bingara Country Music Festival.
Artists featuring across the weekend include versatile songstress and rising star Vanessa Sanger, “Dubby” Doubleday, Husband and wife country music award-winning duo; GED & Trudy Hintz, Tony Wagner, Brian Howard, Reece Blinman and Rob Breese to name a few. All artists are familiar acts on the country muster circuit which stretches from the Wee Waa Cotton Capital Fest to the Weethalle Country Music Muster and the Macksville Music Muster.
Also performing is the president of the Bingara RSL, Helen Cornish, who is looking ahead to what promises to be a fantastic and fun-filled weekend.
“Last year’s event was more than we could have hoped for, there were so many visitors that we had to set up an additional camping area at the showground after the river camping and the local caravan park reached full capacity”.
“The walk-ups are a very important aspect of festivals like this, it gives people the opportunity to be involved in the festival as a performer, not just as a spectator”.
“We had a full backing band for the walk-ups as we will again this year”.
The walk-ups will be held all day between 10 am and 6 pm on Friday and Saturday (interchanging with featured artists) before ‘showtime’ which begins at 6:30 pm and runs right through till 10:30 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the main acts will begin at 10 am with entertainment and club raffles till 3 pm.
There is a generous $500 plus recording deal walk-up prize package on offer to anyone prepared to throw their hat into the ring.
The local Lions Club and Westpac Rescue will be on hand to prepare breakfast on Friday and Saturday mornings.
“We are very much looking forward to the festival this year”, says Helen. “It’s just a wonderful opportunity for local and regional musicians to get together in a relaxed, friendly and well-organised environment where everyone can feel involved and have a great time”.
“The value of events like this to the local community is enormous. We know that many of the people who were here last year are very keen to return again for 2023 so we are expecting a busy, wholesome weekend full of good music and good fun!”
So, throw your swag in the back of the truck, and head out for some free camping on the banks of the beautiful Gwydir River.
There will also be a courtesy bus operating throughout the weekend, transporting punters between the camping grounds and the club.
