An accident earlier today blocked the New England Highway in both directions between Wallangarra and Tenterfield.
The collision between a Toyota Landcruiser and a truck happened just after 12.30pm on the New England Highway near Isle Street, just south of Wallangarra. With significant damage to the vehicles and debris on the road it may take some time to clear.
Emergency services attended the scene and the rescue helicopter was also been called in to assist.
As at 4pm, the road was reopened, but the wreckage remains on the side of the road waiting for the tow trucks to arrive. Traffic control may be in place, and the road may be closed again while the wreckage is salvaged. Motorists are asked to exercise caution and allow extra travel time.
