Narrabri’s premier food and drinks event is back for 2023.
Nosh Narrabri will celebrate its 20th year as they invite locals and visitors to let their taste buds go as a variety of food and drinks vendors put on a show.
“Our last event was in 2019, after that COVID made it difficult to run a food and drink festival, so we are very excited we can bring it back now and the community can enjoy an event all about food and delicious drinks,” said Kate Kahl, President Nosh Narrabri.
The two day event will kick off on Saturday August 26 boasting a family friendly market day with something for everyone.
“It will start at 10:30am and go through to about 5pm, but the bar will stay open so people can relax and enjoy the sunset with a few drinks in hand,” said Kate.
“There will be kid’s activities, including George the Farmer, also a food science experience, face painting and event highlight with celebrity chef Sophie Hanson there as well.”
“We will have our cheesecake competition, our BBQ cook off competition and our beer brewing as well as live music and up to 40 food exhibitors.”
The event is attracting interested from vendors from Hunter Valley to the Gold Coast, but mainly local talent will be on display with old favourites and new flavours.
“Mainly local vendors which is exciting but sadly some businesses have had to close over COVID and never recovered, so it will be nice to bring back Nosh and promote our long-term exhibitors and the newbies as well,” said Kate.
“There are some new additions to the drinks, with liquors which are quite fun.”
For the Nosh Committee, reigniting the event has been without its challenges.
“It hasn’t been the easiest to get it back up and running after being away for so long, thankfully we have some incredible supporters of Nosh, and they want to see us succeed,” said Kate.
“We are hoping this event will be new, fresh and exciting.”
And nothing says fresh and exciting like a new location along the Narrabri Creek.
“It will be along the pathway along the river this time, so people that attend can enjoy a lot more shade under the trees and the lush green grass,” said Kate.
“It will be fun to have somewhere new to experience Nosh and explore the exhibitors down the pathways.”
Sunday August 27th will not be disappointing with the iconic Nosh Long Lunch taking place in the parklands behind the Crossing Theatre.
“This will be a four-course long lunch and it will be catered by Relish Catering in Narrabri with Treen, who is well known as a fantastic caterer,” she said.
“It will be under the large marquees provided by North West Events, so it will be a beautiful event with plenty of flowers for our spring theme which have been sponsored by Blooms in Narrabri.”
“We are aiming for 500 people, which is our largest long lunch we have ever had.”
To secure tickets follow Nosh Narrabri on social media or sign up for the e-newsletter via their website.
“People who sign up will be the first I the know when tickets will be available for purchase, and we are encouraging group bookings.”
Nosh Narrabri promises to keep promoting local producers as keep Narrabri on the map.
“Because it has been around for 20 years people are really emotionally connected to Nosh and it has helped a lot businesses establish themselves in the food and drink industry, and it is a great way to support local businesses in the industry,” said Kate.
“It is a unique event, it’s not raising money for a cause, it is just bringing everyone together to celebrate food and drink, enjoying each other company and a great day out in Narrabri.”
The heart of the North West will have a lot to offer that weekend with both Nosh Narrabri and the Wee Waa Show, giving travelers the perfect excuse to head inland.
“Come and enjoy a fantastic day out, relaxing and enjoying our beautiful town, have some food and a drink and have some fun, we would love to see you,” said Kate.
“I would like to thank our sponsors for without them this event would not happen without their support, so thank you to Port of Newcastle who have jumped in as a new sponsor and we are so grateful for them, and all of our sponsors for allowing Nosh to happen.”
