The boundaries of a number of the rural villages in the Gwydir Shire after a review found there was some confusion.
The Geographical Names Board (GNB) is currently seeking community feedback on a proposal by Gwydir Shire Council to amend 12 existing address locality boundaries in its Local Government Area.
Gwydir Shire Council proposed the boundary amendments following a review of rural addresses, which identified a need to amend some address locality to avoid confusion in the provision of services including Emergency Services.
The Geographical Names Board is seeking feedback on the proposal to amend the locality boundaries of Keera and Bundarra, Dinoga and Cobbadah, Crooble and Pallamallawa, Delungra and Balfours Peak, Gulf Creek and Keera, and, Boggabilla and Tulloona.
The Board is encouraging community comment before it considers the proposal.
Chair of the Geographical Names Board, Narelle Underwood, says it is important the community has their say.
“It is important locality boundaries are easy to identify and make sense to the community.”
“We want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to provide their feedback on the proposed boundary amendments,” she said.

Submissions can be made until 23 July 2023.
