The Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) has commenced stakeholder engagement for its planned upgrade of the Quirindi swimming pool.
The $6.6m project will provide the community with a 50m pool for recreational and competitive use, an accessible ramp into the pool, a water-based play (Splash pad) area, barbeque facilities, and a dry play area.
Council has developed three concept plans for what will be known as the Quirindi Aquatic Centre and is seeking feedback from residents and community groups and is especially keen to hear about the types of water-based play community members would like to see incorporated into the splash pad area.
“The main aim of our consultation process is to ascertain exactly what our community and user groups would like as far as the splash pad and surrounding play areas are concerned,” said LPSC Mayor Doug Hawkins.
“The concept plans have been developed to ensure we can deliver a project that best utilises the $6,622,547 grant we received from the NSW Government, as well as the current land space on the site.”
“The plan is for an outdoor pool that is 50 meters in length and six lanes wide that meets Australian Swimming’s standard required to be utilised for local level swimming competitions.”
Council has written to relevant local user groups, schools, community associations, and sporting clubs seeking their input and will stage a series of community meetings around the shire next month.
