Music in the Regions is back and is just about to commence their Winter Tour in the New England Region.
Musical Duo Andrew Blanch and Emily Granger will be performing their Suite Mágica tour, combining the strings of the harp with classical guitar for a highly memorable evening of beautiful music throughout August.
Music in the Regions is an independent touring organisation with the sole purpose of bringing classical music to audiences that may not necessarily have the opportunity to attend live concerts. Their mission is “to embed cultural activity in the regions, to leave a legacy that endures through the generations, and to evolve beyond the life of the program itself.”
“We work with community partners to bring musicians off the beaten track for classical music: from churches to golf clubs, railway stations to pubs. With a statewide mandate, we want to bring excellent music to where people live.”
Mr Blanch and Ms Granger certainly fulfil this role, with both artists being highly regarded on both the national and international scene. Ms Granger currently performs as the principal harpist in the Queensland Symphony orchestra and has just released her first solo album, and Mr Blanch is a multi-award-winning classical guitarist, whose performance and recording work have both been critically acclaimed.
The two are reuniting to complete their second tour for Music in the Regions performing Suite Mágica. While guitar duos are considered quite common in classical music, the pairing of harp and guitar is not and consequently the show is described as “both fresh and familiar.”
“Side by side on stage, the instruments face each other like an enchanted reflection – with striking visual and aural similarities,” say the Music in the Regions Team.
Their tour dates are as follows:
- NUNDLE: Saturday 19 August, 1 pm Nundle Memorial Hall in partnership with the Upper Peel Landcare Group.
- EMERALD HILL: Sunday 20 August, 2 pm at Emerald Hill Hall in partnership with Gunnedah Conservatorium.
- BARRABA: Tuesday 22 August, 6:30 pm at, and in partnership with, The Playhouse Hotel.
- GLOUCESTER: Saturday 26 August, 4 pm at The Citizens Centre in partnership with the Gloucester Arts and Culture Council Inc.
- DUNGOG: Sunday 27 August, 3 pm at, and in partnership with, The Royal Hotel.
