Moree’s Industry and Careers Expo has found a new home this year, at the local showground as they prepare for an influx of businesses, students, and community members eager to see what is on offer.
On Thursday August 3rd, up to 50 exhibitors from local employment and training organisations will be on show.
“It is a great opportunity for students to connect with industry and training organisation in Moree,” said Rachael Shearer, Head Teacher Careers, Moree Schools.
“We have great local businesses coming along and a Q and A session with a number of local identities, and we have students emceeing that event to talk about everything to do with careers.”
Kylie Captain will open the event with an inspiration speech, followed by hands on activities throughout the day.
“Kylie is an amazing women and leader the kids can really look up to, and they will really enjoy listening to her speak,” said Rachael.
The expo is hosted through the Educational Pathways Program, an innovative career program which launched in Moree in 2022 to bring careers education to High School Students.
And while targeted towards schools with student coming from Moree, Boggabilla, and Mungindi, the public are welcome to attend and see what opportunities are about.
“Come down and talk about school-based traineeships, apprenticeships and tertiary study, vocation education, we have covered all academic opportunities, whether you want to go local or further afield.” said Rachael.
“Talk to people who have done it before and who have come from all different industries.”
Following last year’s success of reinvigorating and reintroducing a career expo to Moree, organisers are pleased to source a new location for a good reason.
“We have had to move from the school hall to the showground, as we have run out of room to incorporate the crowd and activities, and the new location allows for TAFE NSW to bring a number of mobile training units to demonstrate vocational educational opportunities for students first hand.”
Moree Industry and Career Expo runs from 10am to 2pm on August 3rd, off Frome Street.
