Alternative Country Music festival Nundle Rocks is set for a revival in January 2024. Organised by well-known Hunter Valley music enthusiasts Dashville, the event will be held in the Nundle School of Arts Memorial Hall across the Australia Day Long weekend on the 26th – 28th of January.
Event organiser Matt Johnston says that they are keen to revive some of the fond memories associated with the Nundle Rocks name.
“Nundle Rocks was a bit of a buzzing fringe festival run by some dedicated locals around 2010-2015, including Toni Swain, who were part of an alt-country community,” says Mr Johnston.
“But as people moved away it lost its drive a little and as years followed, the pub kind of just adopted the title but not really the festival vibe across town, which as musicians we are hoping to revive with great programming for this year and future years to come.”
With the blessing of the original event organisers, Dashville now hopes to reinvigorate the festival, and the community spirit that was associated with the event.
The boutique festival has a line up of at least 17 bands, many of which have performed at the popular Dashville Skyline event which was held in the Hunter Valley last year.
Tickets are on sale for Nundle Rocks now and are limited to just 100 tickets per day.
“The hall capacity is around 100 so we ask people keen to come along to purchase tickets before the day.”
“As it’s the first time for organisers, at this venue, we’ll assess how capacity works and make sure it’s comfortable and accessible for everyone,” said Mr Johnston.
Nundle Rocks is open to all ages of music enthusiasts and there will be food available on site, and an option to BYO drinks.
For those that wish to immerse themselves in a whole weekend of music, and the sights and culture of the Nundle community, camping at the Fossickers Tourist Park, which is directly next door to the Hall.
Tickets are $40 per day for adults, and $15 per day for under 15s. There is also an option to purchase a VIP 3-day pass at $90 for adults and $45 for under 15s.
