Inverell is in for a cool treat this summer with 5 days of water slide fun planned from 17-21 January. Summer Splash will be held in Inverell’s Varley Oval and promises free daily sessions of waterslides and water play fun for all residents aged 18 and under.
The event has been organised and funded by Inverell Shire Council in conjunction with the NSW State Government.
“We decided to run this event partly as a response to the fact that the Inverell Pool is still under construction and also because we’ve done smaller scale events similar to this that have been met with a great reaction by the community,” said Manager for Inverell Council’s Administrative and Marketing Services, Peter Caddey.
“We’ve done some smaller events similar to this in the school holidays before but nothing of this scale so it’s very exciting.”
“Summer Splash seemed a great way to give the kids something fun to do, that would be able to involve the greatest number of people and gives people the opportunity to cool off on our hot summer days,” Mr Caddey said.
The event will feature four inflatable waterslides and Mr Caddey tells us that, although the exact slide details are still being finalised, this will include 3 larger slides and 1 smaller one for the younger attendees.
Kicking off on Wednesday January 17 there will be 3 sessions run daily: 9am – 11am, 11:30am – 1:30pm and 2:30pm. The sessions are designed for 18 years and under and bookings are essential.
You can attend more than once but can only book a maximum of two sessions per day. Mr Caddey also said that parents or caregivers attending only need to book for their children, not for themselves.
Council encourages attendees to make a day of it, inviting people to either pack a picnic, or take advantage of the food trucks and ice cream vans that will be available on site. Bookings for Summer Splash are open now online.
