If you’re looking for a night of hilarity and laughing about our world’s current state of political affairs sounds like your thing, then look no further than The Wharf Review’s Pride in Prejudice. The well-known political satirists are now in their twenty-fourth year of poking fun at pretty much anything you can think of when it comes to policy and politics.
On Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th of February, they’ll be lighting up the stage at Capitol Theatre in Tamworth with their latest offering Pride in Prejudice. Taking its name from the popular Jane Austen novel, make no mistake, this is no Regency era romance.
Rather, writers Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe, and Phillip Scott, have prepared for audiences a satirical comedy show full of puns, scathingly excellent impersonations, sketches, and songs.
No one and nothing is off limits as the show mercilessly pokes fun at everything from Trump to Peter Dutton; from the climate crisis to Robo-Debt; some general mudslinging towards the ABC and more.
A recent review by Richard Cotter for Australian Stage described the show as “mindful entertainment” that mocks “with a probing intensity”.
The Wharf Review’s previous shows have all been met with mass critical, and audience acclaim, and previous performances of Pride in Prejudice are so far seemingly living up to the troupes’ reputation.
The show is recommended for audiences 13 and over due to the presence of strong language and adult themes. Tickets are on sale now and start from $39.50 for a student and $69.00 for adults, however discounts are available for members and subscribers of the Capitol Theatre.
