The Moree Show is promised to be bigger and better than ever before this weekend.
Celebrating its 150th anniversary, the show has now drawn its focus onto families and affordability giving show-goers the best value for money in the show’s history. For the first time, patrons can enjoy the show with a 2 day pass at a discounted rate, with children 5-11 yrs able to gain entry for $10, 12 yrs and over for $20, seniors for $15 and families of 4 for just $50.
For that price, the show is jam packed full of activities and entertainment which should easily cover 2 days worth, including for the kids a pet show, themed shows such as Dinkum Dinosaur and Fairy La La, a Sideshow Alley and a Young Farmer’s Competition. For the adults, there’s a ute show and barrel races, Cattle and Wool displays, pavilions with lots of stalls and the Gills Rodeo, which up until last year was a separately priced event.
“With everything going up, we didn’t want families to miss out,” says Moree Show Society Secretary, Karen Munn.
“Last year we were forced to put up our gate prices due to even the Rodeo charging us 50% more than the previous year.”
“So this year we had to think of something different to keep costs low but at the same time keep it viable for us to hold it. That’s where the 2-day discounted pass came in.”
“Patrons in the past had to pay for quite a few things separately whereas this year a lot of those things are included in the price,” Ms Munn said.
The show will also include a Grand Parade as well as one of the biggest fireworks display ever held.
Show Society President, and Ms Munn’s husband, Brendan Munn, holds claim that the Moree Show is one of the most successful local shows in the State.
“For what we offer, the amount of money spent of entertainment just falls short of the Bathurst Show, which is known to be one of the largest regional shows in NSW,” Mr Munn said.
“Unlike say, the Sydney Royal Easter Show, from about 2pm until the time we knock off at about 9 or 10pm, patrons will be entertained nonstop to keep their backsides on the seat,” he said.
Ms Munn added that there wouldn’t be a show without the overpouring support of the greater community, and the countless sponsors dedicated to the show.
“Admittedly, even some of the big sponsors that we have onboard only ever sponsor the show every year and nothing else, which is a testament to the success of the show itself,” Ms Munn said.
The Moree Show kicks off this Friday, 26th April and will conclude Saturday 27th April.
