The Tamworth Region is set for a smoking September thanks to the Tamworth Barbeque Festival.
The new event will run across the last weekend in September, Friday 27 September until Sunday 29 September at the Riverside Sporting Complex on Carter Street.
The ‘Bikes and Brew’ festival will offer three days of American-style low and slow barbeque-related food and market stalls, smoker demonstrations, the National Thunder Motorcycle Rally and live music.
Tamworth Regional Council Events Officer Mel Millsteed said the event was shaping up to be a great celebration for the Tamworth Region.
“We’re inviting locals and visitors alike to enjoy a beautiful spring weekend in the Capital of Country with the barbeque competition, motorcycle rides and over 20 hours of live music.”
“The festival will also feature food vans and a wide variety of trade sites selling items for the barbeque and bike enthusiast.”
The family-friendly weekend will be one for the senses as the rich smoky aroma of 40 low and slow cooks from around the country battle it out for a share in $19,000 in cash and prizes as part of the Australian Barbecue Alliance competition.
“We’re excited to welcome some of the biggest barbeque enthusiasts to Tamworth. It’s a huge national competition and will make a lot of people around town very hungry, I’m sure!”
Three-day passes will be available for the whole weekend at $65, or day passes for $25 Friday, $35 Saturday and $15 Sunday. Children under 16 are free all weekend.
