Tow World in Tamworth is under fresh management and one of the new owners’ first initiatives is to start selling brand new caravans again.
At this stage, the range includes JB and Traveller caravans. Troy, who took on the business in November last year with his wife Gayle, said the move is significant because now people won’t need to travel if they want a brand new caravan.
“It’s a big deal to have brand new caravans back in Tamworth.”
“It also complements everything we already do with our spare parts and accessories – now we are a one-stop shop for everyone.”
According to Troy, they already have a few caravans on the lot, but the plan at this stage is to officially unveil them at the New England Outdoor Adventure Show in Tamworth on June 29 and 30.
“That’s where we are going to launch. Anyone can come in and see them now, but the expo will be the official unveiling of, here we are; you can now buy caravans locally,” he said.
“We will have our other products there as well: trailers, accessories, but the main show will be our JB caravans and the Traveller caravan, a great entry-level van for people with a more modest budget.”
Tow World’s long history with caravans
Husband and wife team Troy and Gayle Black took over Tow World in Tamworth last year, but the business itself has existed since around 1968.
According to Gayle, it has been at least 13 years since any brand-new caravans have been commercially for sale at Tow World. After taking the reins of Tow World last year, she says they wanted to return the business to its roots.
“For us, Tow World has a long family history, and we decided that meant getting the business back to how it was 50 or so years ago, when they sold caravans, horse floats, and employed 20 or so people,” she said.
“We wanted a business that Troy could sink his teeth into because he is a very smart man. There were a few businesses we looked at, but Tow World worked for us; what we loved.
“We are campers and caravaners from way back,” Gayle added.
Plans to expand into servicing
Gayle says there are also plans for Tow World to expand into caravan servicing in the future.
“When the Country Music Festival is on, lots of Grey Nomads tow in their caravans, and there are other people constantly flowing through town who need parts, we want to serve that need,” she said.
“Anything that goes on a trailer, we have got, or can get in, boat trailers, stock trailers, cattle trailers, tipper trailers, all of that, we’ve got it.
“We keep a big range of accessories and parts in stock as well.”
