Pathfinders Homelessness Support Services are gearing up for Homelessness Week and are calling on the community for crucial support.
Homelessness Australia hosts Homelessness Week annually to build community support and government commitment to ending homelessness.
This year, services and community groups across the country will come together to raise awareness, advocate for solutions, and drive change through national and local events.
“We see the impact of homelessness on individuals and families every day. Many of those we support are starting over often with nothing. During Homelessness Week, we’re asking the community to help by donating essential household items.” said Janatha McKay, Pathfinders’ Homelessness Support Services Coordinator.
“These items are not just practical, they provide significant comfort and support as people begin to rebuild their lives.”
“We are seeking donations of kitchen items, homewares, bedding and linen, white goods, furniture, gift cards, and vouchers. These everyday items will make a significant difference to people who are experiencing homelessness or those moving into emergency or temporary accommodation.”
In Armidale, on August 8, 2024, local homelessness service providers will come together for “Homelessness Services Connection Day” at the Centro Plaza from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
