Talented young Aboriginal artist and proud Gomeroi woman, Janalli Griffiths will be hosting a traditional weaving and dancing workshop in Tingha this Saturday.
The hands-on workshop is open to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal participants and will be held at Tingha Town Hall 10.00am – 2.00pm on Saturday 10 August.
Born in Inverell and now residing on the Gold Coast, Janalli has been weaving since 2021 and says she fell in love with the artform which has helped her overcome her darkest days and periods where she found it hard to navigate life.
Her works, which include stunning wall hangings, jewellery and functional pieces such as baskets, are in demand both across Australia and internationally.
Janalli is also passionate about teaching the art of weaving and welcomes participants to sign up for her free weaving and dance session on Saturday in Tingha.
“I love to create safe spaces for people to come, sit, learn and share a craft that has been passed down for thousands of years. There is nothing that I am more passionate about then to carry on culture to the generations that will continue after us.”
