The cotton capital of Australia, Wee Waa, will hold it’s 2-day annual show this weekend, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 August. The Wee Waa Show is one of the community’s biggest events and once again promises plenty of fun for families and AgShow enthusiasts.
The Wee Waa show has been running since 1913 and continues to grow in popularity, this year will be another big one for the close-knit township.
All the usual AgShow staples will be on display again this year including horses, cattle, wool, home produce, cooking, handicrafts, horticulture, art, photography and sewing.
The pavilion displays will all open from 3pm on Friday, as will Sideshow Alley for the thrill seekers and the Trade Space.
Friday evening is all about opening the show, and entertainment for all.
The official opening will commence and 6.30pm with the announcement of the winner of Young Woman for 2024. From there the night will kick on with fireworks, cross cut sawing and live music from Sam Snape.
Saturday morning starts off early, with horse judging commencing at 8am, leading into a full day of fun including Wee Waa’s Got Talent, the CGS Farmer’s Challenge and Meat Masters Competition.
Saturday will also feature the Ag & Civil Field Day. As a part of this the call out is still on for those wanting to put their hand up for a crack at the Australian Siphon Pipe Starting Championships.
Entertainment on the Saturday night will feature Newcastle based country-rock act The Viper Creek Band, as well as local rapper DaPar.
As always, the kids have not been forgotten, if sideshow alley proves a bit too much excitement, there will be shows from World of Wildlife, Fairy Lala Land and Jurassic Jack Roar.
The Wee Waa Show Society are also running a raffle, with all funds raised going towards running the show, and maintaining and upgrading facilities. Tickers are still available for purchase and prizes include a John Deere ride on mower.
Tickets for the Wee Waa Show are available for purchase online now, with a family of four costing $32.00 for a weekend pass. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on the weekend.
