Farmers are gearing up for field day season as Gunnedah gets ready to host Australia’s biggest field day drawcard when AgQuip opens it’s gates next week, August 20.
This year’s field day event will see an Aussie cricket legend and familiar favourites on the way to Gunnedah as thousands of visitors flock to the field days site on Black Jack Road.
Gunnedah Shire Council Manager Economy & Growth Susan Frater said Gunnedah Shire is at the heart of this important event.
“AgQuip is a born and bred Gunnedah Shire event that has played a huge role in bringing innovation to the agricultural community over more than 50 years,” said Ms Frater.
“We welcome all the exhibitors, visitors and sponsors to AgQuip and to Gunnedah, and invite them to spend time in our great Shire, whether it is through shopping, dining, accommodation or some of the many other attractions we have to offer.”
Meanwhile, NSW Farmers will bring back a number of popular offerings for visitors with record attendance predicted, including the free barbecue lunch for members and guests as well as free refreshments from the WFI Coffee Cart.
Local NSW Farmers Regional Service Manager Michael Collins was among those who would be on deck to welcome visitors to AgQuip and said it would be well worth the trip.
“One of the highlights of an event like AgQuip is seeing what’s new in agriculture, and there’s no shortage of innovation or excitement in store this year,” said Mr Collins.
“But there’s also the old favourites like the GRDC Breakfast on Wednesday morning where the Brownhill Cup will be awarded for farming excellence, and a series of presentations from Aussie cricket legend Brad Hogg on the importance of mental health.”
“Whether you’re a newcomer to the industry, an old hand or a young farmer just starting out, we hope you’ll enjoy everything AgQuip has to offer and stop by the NSW Farmers shed to say g’day!”
NSW Farmers President Xavier Martin will be among those in the NSW Farmers shed, as well as staff from the workplace relations, policy, projects, regional and media teams.
Partners and stall holders will also attend the NSW Farmers shed throughout the three days including:
• WFI Insurance
• Aruva Modular Homes
• Bunnings Trade
• Smart Commercial Solar
• Global Farms
• Spray Smart
• Rural Fire Service
• Isuzu
