It is time to scroll through your phone, computer or photo albums and find your most iconic images of the Moree Plains with the My Moree photography competition now open.
With an inspiring $4,500 in prizes for local and visiting photographers. In 2024 we are also calling upon content creators with the introduction of a new category, videography.
Council is encouraging entrants to share, create and showcase their vision of the ‘Moree Plains’, via the My Moree Facebook page.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to show our pride in our magnificent Shire, through the lens of photography and/or videography. The My Moree photography competition aims to make residents and visitors to the region our best spokespeople, showcasing through their visually unique perspective what they love about life on the Plains,“ said Mayor Mark Johnson.
To enter the competition and be in the running for $4,500 worth of prizes, an entrant must upload an image as a ‘mentions’ post to the My Moree Facebook page with the caption “Here is my entry into the 2024 #mymoree Photography and Video Competition in the [insert category], then tell us in 25 words or less what #mymoree means to you; during the competition period.
Entries will be judged on both their popularity on Facebook and how well they represent the Moree Plains Shire. Finalist will be exhibited in an exhibition at Shop 16, The Max Centre in October.
Prizes awarded in the following categories:
• People of the Plains – Capture the heart and spirit of our beautiful people on the Plains.
$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended
• My Moree Plains at Play – Showcase how we like to have fun, enjoy all that the region has to offer, and connect with one another.
$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended
• Iconic Moree Plains – What do you think of when you picture the Moree Plains? Sweeping sunsets, picturesque plains, amazing architecture, culture and creativity… Let’s show it off!

• Up and Coming Talent – Celebrating photographers aged under 18 and their connection to our region.
$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended
• Video – a 30 to 60 second video celebrating ‘Life on the Plains’.
$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended
• People’s Choice – the photograph or video that receives the most community votes for the best photo during the exhibition at Shop 16.

The competition will remain open until 15 September, with the exhibition being showcased in Shop 16 on the corner of Balo and Heber Streets, from Friday 11 October to Saturday 26 October.
