The Northern District Exhibit is on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers and a new part-time Manager to help promote the region at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Locals are invited to become part of a vibrant community dedicated to showcasing local produce and engaging in meaningful activities. Volunteers can participate at various levels, contributing to tasks ranging from display construction to sales and public engagement.
“We are inviting everyone to be part of our community,” said Brian Winter, President of the Northern District Exhibit.
“Whether you can commit a little time or a lot, there’s a role for you. We always need extra hands to help with the judging of produce and to deliver our stunning agricultural display, which is the highlight of the Sydney Royal Easter Show.”
Volunteering offers numerous benefits, including the chance to make a significant impact on the exhibits and the community. Participants will not only use their skills to create eye-catching displays but also have the opportunity to build lifelong friendships with fellow agriculture enthusiasts.
Volunteers will gain valuable insights into the world of agriculture and produce exhibition, learning from expert judges, growers, and fellow members. This hands-on experience is perfect for anyone looking to expand their horizons while supporting local agriculture.
In addition to seeking volunteers, the Northern District Exhibit is excited to announce the recruitment of a part-time Manager for the first time. This paid position will oversee the planning, execution, and coordination of activities related to the Exhibit in the lead-up to and during the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and familiarity with the agriculture industry, as well as existing relationships within the District or the ability to build and strengthen those connections. The Manager will work closely with senior team members to liaise with local growers and commercial providers.
Key responsibilities for the Northern District Exhibit Manager will include:
- Coordinating and overseeing display construction and logistics.
- Managing retail sales during the Show period.
- Overseeing back-of-house operations during the build, show, and pack-down phases.
- Sourcing, preparing, and submitting produce for judging across 30 different categories, including wool, grains, honey, and more.
The role requires commitment to several important events, including workshops to prepare produce and the display, as well as three weeks of involvement during the Sydney Royal Easter Show. This includes 10 days for display construction, 7 days for produce judging, and 12 days for public sales and liaison.
Travel is also a component of this role, as the Manager will collect produce and liaise with growers, with resources like a Toyota Hi Ace van, a mobile phone, and a laptop provided to facilitate their work.
