McLean Care residents and staff are on edge after a number of attempted break ins in the last seven days, targeting vulnerable people living at the McLean Care Independent Living Units at Apex Road in Gunnedah.

CEO of McLean Care, Sue Thomson, is calling on the community, police and politicians to keep our elderly safe.

“We are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe. But I am imploring local community, police and politicians to do more to protect the older people living here.”

“The fact they keep coming back, shows the lack of policing in Gunnedah really does impact this community.  We need police in town at night.”

Thomson reports two motor vehicles have been stolen from residents, and are concerned what will be next.

“Older people deserve to feel safe to enjoy their older life, not be the victims of a group of people who are deliberately targeting older people instilling a terrible sense of fear.  This group of people are actively terrorising our local community.”

McLean Care are asking if anyone in the community has information regarding these crimes to contact the police, and help put a stop to this criminal behaviour in town.
