A number of small grants have been given to important community services in our region to help improve their facilities and services.
Federal Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, announced two grants under the Rebuilding Regional Communities Program which supports community-led initiatives in remote, rural and regional Australia through to 2025.
“I am pleased to advise $6,242 has been allocated to Cystic Fibrosis Community Care in Armidale to enhance the process of COVID-19 recovery for people living with Cystic Fibrosis and their families, by providing essential medical equipment.”
The funds will be used to provide 10 Home Spirometers, which measure airflow through the lungs, and help determine lung function and lung health, and will be used by people to support their health during their COVID-19 recovery.
Mr Joyce said a further $10,000 has been allocated to the Moobi School Community near Scone to buy a new lawn mower.
Meanwhile the Armidale Art Gallery is poised to undergo a mini makeover in the coming months, replacing carpets and its front counter, following a visit yesterday by Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall who announced a $17,235 State Government grant for the project.
The funding, secured under the NSW Community Building Partnership program, will be used to replace the ageing carpet in the public gallery, install waterproof flooring in the workshop and modify the service desk and front counter to make it more user friendly.
“This is wonderful news for the gallery and its band of dedicated volunteers who have worked very hard to create a delightful space to hang and enjoy local and touring artist’s work,” Mr Marshall said.
