The Tenterfield Horticultural Society is celebrating 95 years by hosting a Spring Garden Expo to mark the occasion.
Bringing together the community with garden trade stalls, presentation including a spring fashion parade, gardening information sessions from local experts, and a floral art display by society members- they’re hoping to make it a birthday to remember.
“To make 95 years is quite an achievement really given, the range of people that have come and gone.” said Louise Kear, Vice President with the Tenterfield Horticultural Society.
“There will be a wide variety of trees, potted plants, natives and seeds, and so much more.”
“We are a small, dedicated group and we just wanted to find a way to celebrate publicly and we thought flowers and gardens are our strength, so we would try to come up with a little bit of a different event this time.”
The Society holds many ties to the local Tenterfield community, with founding member, Sarah Bruxner a part of the growing legacy.
“She was very active in getting Bruxner Park together with beautiful plants and designs then,” said Louise.
“So, we’re very happy to have someone of such historical nature as part of the founding process.”
Tenterfield is known for being a big producer of Dahlias, and visitors can expect to see many of display on the day.
“Well done to everyone for keeping such an interesting organisation going, and many more years to come. Let’s make it one hundred!”
The society is inviting everyone to come along to enjoy a day of history, community, and most of all- the flowers.
