Popular food delivery service Uber Eats will launch in Armidale this week.
The global ride sharing platform has been increasingly extending its reach into regional areas over the last few years, but this will be the first time the food delivery service has been available in Armidale.
Local restaurant owner Manjinder Singh Nirmaan will be one of the first local businesses taking advantage of the platform. His restaurant, An Indian Affair, will be offering Uber Eats deliveries from tomorrow, Wednesday 6 September.
Mr Nirmaan has owned An Indian Affair for seven years. When asked why he has decided to partner with Uber Eats he says, “It was an easy decision. Uber Eats is very popular and customers love it.”
An Indian Affair will join the platform with around 10 other small locally owned Armidale restaurants, as well as popular fast-food chains such as McDonald’s and Domino’s Pizza.
“I hope this will be very good for business,” says Mr Nirmaan, “I think being on Uber Eats will make us much busier.”
A spokesperson for Uber Eats says that other locations in New England will likely be coming online soon.
“This expansion follows the recent launch of 13 new locations across Australia in major regional centres like Bathurst, Coffs Harbour and Gladstone, Lismore, Nowra, Alice Springs, Orange, Port Macquarie and Tamworth, with more locations to be announced by the end of September,” said the spokesperson.
Uber Eats has a special discount code for locals to try the service.
“To celebrate the arrival of Uber Eats in Armidale and four new cities, Uber Eats is making it even easier to place your first order with the promo code AUCL2308 unlocking $25 off your next 4 orders, expires midnight AEST 01/10.”
